4OD downloading??
Posted by Oscar Patterson on 4 November 2010 - 4:01pm.
Hello you technical chaps (and un-chaps!)
I enjoy BBC content via the IPDL application which lets me download from the web and listen (at my mobile leisure) to radio shows and watch TV on my phone/iPad from iplayer specifically, BUT is there an an easy way to do this type of thing with 4OD yet? (I quite liked The Event y'see, and I think I'll miss a few coming up)
I figured if anyone would know, if you would be guys...?
Thanks in advance etc

What is this IPDL application?
I am running Mac OSX and would love to download content from the BBC iPlayer to view later on my phone or iPad - where can I get the IPDL application? And any hints on how to use it etc.
Many thanks
I'm not a Mac person
but it's so easy on a PC I'm not even sure what hints I could add
see http://po-ru.com/projects/iplayer-downloader/ for links to Mac software built on ipdl foundation.
Yup...
that's the one, its great
You should get yourself a copy
of the free 'Stream Transport' application.
Install it and run it.
Run your Browser as well.
Open the page in 4Od where the prog you want lives, and copy the URL from your Browser's address bar into the address bar in Stream Transport.
Click on 'Start' in Stream Transport - the web page will reload inside the Stream Transport window. You can close your Browser now - carry on with Stream Transport instead.
Click on the big arrow on the web page image to play the prog. The prog will start to play inside the Stream Transport window.
Once the Stream Transport file list - at the bottom - shows that it's started to stream the prog itself (the giveaway is the duration - the ads will be 15-20 secs, the prog will be whatever length the prog is), highlight the prog file in the list and click on the 'Download' button.
The flv file from 4OD will be streamed into Stream Transport and stored on your PC wherever you have specified.
Get yourself a copy of the free 'FLV Player' to play the files back whenever you like.
Hope that works for you.
right then...
*rolls up internet sleeves*
I'll see what gives, thanks for that...
