21st Century changes

JohnW's picture

What new things do you now use regularly that you couldn't have bought at the turn of the century and wouldn't want to live without? Here's mine - I may add more:

iPod (other MP3 players were available)
PVRs (1st Tivo then Sky+ now they're commonplace)
DAB (for the choice of stations available in the car now)
Legal Downloads
PDAs (I would hate to not have wikipedia in my pocket)
affordable powerful laptops
Home Broadband (this is a bit of a cheat as it was just about available in 1999)
Squeezy Marmite (This was what actually prompted me to ask the question)

Tom Tom

Not sure when they launched, but I certainly couldn't afford a SatNav before 2000. Now in constant use helping me find schools when supply teaching!

I forgot that one

Straight away I need to add something else to my list.

On-line grocery shopping

I am not a regular user but occasionally it is a very nice luxury for bulky items to be delivered to your door during a busy work week.

Squeezy Marmite

It's just not right, is it?

Yes

Like the best inventions, I don't know why they didn't think of it before.
