2 becomes 1

Dave Amitri's picture

In the spirit of The Spice Girls classic I feel the old site needs group hug moment. Following the Bargepole crisis came Mr Crowthers thanks to us all, a reminder of the camaraderie required when this many men and women of a certain age come together. I hope the current Archie Valparaiso / Middlerabbit situation can come to a peaceful end and I hope my attempt at a distraction can divert attention back to a less confrontational mood.
Music brings us together, I'm sure that's why we all spend so much of our time here and nothing evokes the spirit of musical harmony like a good duet. It would be good to hear Archie and Middle do a version of "Something Stupid" ala Robbie and Nicole. My duet of choice would be this, what's yours?

Well, as it's (almost) the season...

Aw, shucks...(something in my eye).

I'm Kenny, ok?

"Jackson" - Nancy and Lee

Of course, with this song I could be Johnny of Johnny and June, but actually I'd rather be Lee of Nancy and Lee. Hotter than a prefab sprout:

Obviously

missed something here. I've always found Archie to be an amenable sort of chap, but don't remember ever seeing the musings of Mr Rabbit....could someone please point me to the scene of the dust up so I can indulge in some mindless voyeurism?

Thanks Iain

Was looking for a thread entitled "Archie - he's a ****" so no wonder I didn't spot it!

el toro calvo grande | 19 November 2009 - 2:36pm

Just

skim read it...couldn't do the whole thread as

a) my lips would ache after trying to pronounce all the long words;
b) I'm 50 and don't have that much lifespan left; and
c) lost my will to live anyway.

I think a number of participants just got carried away. I can only hope that, having apparently shooed Archie away, Mr Rabbit proves to be a suitable replacement in the wit and pith departments.

The floor is yours.............

Slightly off the point, but

when a snippet of Elton & Kiki's video was played on one of Channel 4's "Top 10" clipathon shows a few years back, I laughed mightily when the voiceover referred sarcastically to its "bleak, impenetrable symbolism".

Good Lovin’ Ain’t Easy To Come By

And nor are nice, friendly web communities full of daft diversions that make the days a wee bit more enjoyable than they otherwise might be. Stick around Archie, you’re amongst friends here.

Don't go there

I have been listening to a CD in the car today that features two of the tracks above - Islands In The Stream and Don't Go Breaking My Heart. In the interests of peace, love and harmony I will not post these particular tracks by Pete & Katie but perhaps we could keep them close in our hearts and thoughts tonight...

Alright I picked up the wrong CD this morning. A simple mistake any fool can make. It should have been the Hanson Christmas CD. Doh!

That's possibly a little *too* intense for

an Archie/Middlerabbit 'make up' duet

I remember

going to see Peter Gabriel somewhere big in London (Earls Court, possibly)during the So tour. During that song, which I was fully expecting him to sing both parts of, right on cue - there was Kate. On stage. Singing. How we cheered:-)

0
Dave Amitri | 20 November 2009 - 12:11am

Er,

(dons pith helmet) that's actually pretty good isn't it? Part of me quite likes, in a Paul Morley style, that a song as bizarre as 'set the fire to the third bar' is mainstream entertainment. Not bad singing from Ms. Cole either.

0
DougieJ | 20 November 2009 - 12:29am

I watched it

with the wife earlier on The Children In Need special and thanks to the wonder of Youtube was able to post it here the same evening. In the spirit of this thread at the end of a very strange day I agree with you Dougie it IS pretty good, strangely hypnotic and just goes to show that you should never judge a book by it's cover, in fact it's unadvisable!
