£15 Amazon Man

I have a habit of wanting one or maybe two cd's as a result of a recommendation to me on this site. I shoot off to Amazon and make a selection or 2 only to find I am a few quid short of the magic £15 fee delivery threshold. I've just done it off the back of a recommendation for Lonely at the Top by Randy Newman. I then added Damien Rice 9 based on the video clip someone posted a couple of days ago of 9 Crimes which was lovely.

This got me £5 underneath the magic £15 and thereafter a scurry around the sale cd's identified The Platinum Collection - Blancmange (subconsciously prompted by talk of the Bhuttan Philharmonic around these parts last week) and Countdown to Ecstasy by Steely Dan, both at £2.98. £15.92 - job done.

I can't be the only one doing this (Amazon's pricing policy positively forces it). Anyone else doing it and have you any top up recommendations to get the order above £15?

Buy two. . .

and have one sent to a different address.

Mine is available upon request.

I can see at least one flaw

I can see at least one flaw in that idea.

Up to £15???

God, I wish, o God, how much do I wish......
Keep it below £75, more bloody like it, money I can currently ill afford, having moved house recently. Hence the recent excursion back to the record library, first trip in a year. The new Elbow, a band I had resisted until then, some fabulous jazz, Andy Sheppard and Larry Carlton, some slightly unexpected and outre bagpipery in folk, Finlay MacDonald band. Makes me almost wish home taping was legal......

There's a website somewhere

There's a website somewhere that lists all Amazon items by price (in ascending order). Mostly out-of-copyright reprints of books for 49p.

The Specials 'In The Studio'

You'll never spend a better £3.98.

Andrew Harrison | 19 July 2008 - 12:09am

I might have to get it

Have always been a bit sniffy about it. Bought the first 2 on vinyl - man the first Specials album was a cool one to have at school. I was thinking of getting the first one after reading about the Specials a bit this week. I should get all three then I reckon. Hope the missus doesn't see this post.

Just get

One of the Joe Brown's last two albums. They are fantastic, if you love Ry Cooder this is a man who is carrying on that fine tradition.

CD Price Comparison Site

I rarely end up using Amazon for any more than user reviews or secondary sellers. I always search cds on www.find-cd.co.uk which is an exaustive price-comparison site. It calculates postage so you get a realistic figure.

great site, thanks!

Also try find-dvd

Yeah it's excellent. There's also www.find-dvd.co.uk , www.find-book.co.uk and www.find-games.co.uk which do the same type of thing.

I'm in awe!

How did you manage to get a post accepted with a blank Comment field, Biscuit? Some of us would pay good money to figure out that trick.

Archie Valparaiso | 1 August 2008 - 6:57pm

Spurred me on to try

but its impossible

lucky for you, Leedsboy, I do have one...

the answer is disappointingly simple.

stick whatever you want in the subject line, then put your cursor in the comment box and press the spacebar.

then post your comment and Bob's your uncle (although mine is actually Stanley)

Well your a lady then

Apologies for the assumption. Guilty of reading the demographic thread and taking it too literally.
