What happened to Grand Funk railroad?

I'm currently reading "The Sound and the Fury" , Barney Hoskyns compilation of classic rock articles several times rightly praised here, and I've just got to Lenny Kaye's article on GFR. Who were apparently huge in 1971. Well, I've heard of them, of course, but I have to say I've never heard anything by them. Am I alone in this? How come they've completely passed me by? (I'm pushing 50 by the way). According to the article they were the biggest band in America at the time, sold out Shea Stadium in 72 hours etc. Yet I've never seen a Q/Mojo retrospective or similar. Which seems a little odd. Justifiably forgotten or worth checking out?

PopMatters

Clicking on a link in Wikipedia earlier today led me to this site. It was new to me, and while a bit cluttery seems to have loads on stuff we all seem interested in - TV and books as well as music. Anyone else know it?

How much music do you manage to listen to

One of the fun things about last fm is being able to see what and how much I've listened to over the previous week. I normally rack up about 250 songs, mainly due to walking to and from work twice a day, (approx 100 minutes of listening time a day). Evenings are podcasts in the garden with a cold beer, books and boxsets of DVDs. I was curious to find out if my 250 songs a week is about average for the Massive.

Muziic

Just discovered this today - download a music player and it allows you to stream content from youtube. For those of us living in benighted countries without spotify it might serve a need.
