Radiohead, two new songs
Just received an email from Radiohead HQ, and the two new songs released for Record Store Day ('Supercollider' and 'The Butcher') on 12" are available for free download. Presumably to all of those that bought the King of Limbs/ on their mailing list. So check your emails!
Thanks Radiohead

Snarky Puppy
Just enjoying a rare quiet night in with a few bevvies, reading the magazine whilst other house mates are out. I thought I would leave you with this, enjoy.
I Just Bought an Album
Yes I have just bought an album... without having listened to it first!
(the CD is flying lotus - cosmogramma for anybody interested)
I'm sure there is a lot of talk on this subject, but it made me think, with all the readily accessible music from spotify, myspace etc. it is very rare (for me) to buy an CD without having listened to it first. Other recent purchases being Tallest Man on Earth, Beirut, Robyn Hitchcock, John Grant. All of which I have had the means to hear them in their entirety before buying.
While I can see the benefit of places like Spotify and such (the try before you buy system helps to avoid spending money on dud cd's) the feeling of unwrapping an album to listen to it for the first time is much more special, something I do not experience enough.
So I was wondering is this the same for most people, do you often buy an album without hearing beforehand or not? When was the last time you really bought something you have never heard before and what was it?
My Summer Project
Whilst working with the old man (doing up a house) I found an electric guitar in the attic. The body and neck are in one piece (with a bit of wear and tear). However it is missing strings, the bridge, tuning pegs and the entire electrical system.
I thought it would be a good project to do this guitar up and would be interesting to learn about the different components of the guitar. At the moment I am a complete amateur and looking for a relatively inexpensive way of repairing/ making the guitar (in true seasick steve fashion).
help from the massive would be greatly appreciated whether it is a website or publication demonstrating the ins and outs of the build, shops for gear or just general advice.
I'll leave it to you...
The Subscription Dilemma
So here is my dilemma,
I am a student currently at uni and an avid Word reader. Subscribing would save me a bit of much needed money and all the perks associated, however I am flickering between two places for the year (London/ Durham). This would mean for half the year the Word would not come to where I am currently living. Going out and buying them seems easier than giving some lucky family member an extra chore of posting them up to me (if I delivered to my home address).
Is there a better way around this before I rope in the parents?
