ATM: iPad Crashes!

My wife and son were loading some of the video, that my son had been shooting, onto his iPad (1st gen) with an iPad camera connection kit and his iPad has gone dark and we can't resurrect it.
Anybody got any suggestions?
Thanks in anticipation

'Planet Earth Is Blue...'

From today's 'Independent' there is an article about a children's illustrated book based on Bowie's 'Space Oddity' - here's the link:

See what you think - I quite like it.

Mandolin! - advice please

My 12 year old son would like to spend his newspaper round tips on a Mandolin.
He is, as they say, an absolute beginner, on a limited budget.
I'd be grateful for any advice.
Many thanks!

Tech Help Please - Apple TV and Spotify

I stream Spotify from my iMac over Airtunes units, using Airfoil, plugged into various speaker systems around the house.
The question is… if I add Apple TV to my wireless network will Airfoil recognise it, and permit me to stream audio to the hi-fi system via the digital audio cable linking Apple TV to the amp?
Thanks

The HJH Story on the iPlayer

Just in case you didn't get the memo, go to:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00v73vt

I assume it's the BBC twelve part programme, that I vaguely remember listening to... all those years ago.

'The Damned United' - the sequel?

I've just finished reading, and enjoying, David Peace's fictional account of Cloughie at Elland Road - where do I go next to find out more?

Also, any other good footie books? I can recommend Gary Imlach's book about his father - any others?

They think it's all over...

I had been meaning to sit down with the children and instruct them in a bit of history. This did it all with Lego:

Tin Machine - discuss

Following recent celebrations of the Dame and a related blog entry stating that 'Working Class Hero' by Tin Machine was the best cover of a Lennon song, I decided to listen without prejudice:

I was always led to understand Tin Machine was unlistenable, however I'm quite enjoying it - am I wrong?

Early Bonnie Raitt

I've just been listening to the Bonnie Raitt, Lowell George and John Hammond - Ultrasonic Studios 1972 recordings, and it got me wondering...
Where do you start with Bonnie Raitt's early albums? Which ones are worth investigating?
Please send you recommendations in the usual way.
