A Night for Haiti

As the talk turns from providing emergency aid to long-term projects to rebuild Haiti after the devastating earthquake, funds need to be raised even as the interest from mainstream news-outlets dwindles.

And so, I wanted to highlight an event which might be of interest to many of the Word's online readership. A chance to catch some of the UK's rising stars and also raise money for a really worthwhile organisation.

A Night For Haiti, in aid of Action Against Hunger's Haiti appeal, will feature DJ sets from the Foals and New Young Pony Club as well as live performances from the up-and-coming Boxer Rebellion and the London songstress Eliza Doolittle.

Taking place on the 19th February at the Clapham Grand, the event'll also be hosted by XFM's Pete Donaldson.

Whilst little known here in the UK, Action Against Hunger (http://www.actionagainsthunger.org.uk) have been present in Haiti since 1985 and they launched an emergency response within hours of the earthquake on 12th January 2010. Since then, their teams on the ground have worked tirelessly to get water and food to those most desperately in need.

All proceeds from tickets (£15 from TicketWeb) and drink sales will go towards Action Against Hunger's lifesaving work within Haiti.
