Eli 'Paperboy' Reed
Following Mark's diary entry in the latest edition, check out the performance by Eli 'Paperboy' Reed at Daryl Hall's website http://www.livefromdarylshouse.com/ with Alan Gorrie from AWB.
While your there, look at the archive performances including Diane Birch (as appears on this month's CD) and Nick Lowe. Well worth a couple of spare hours viewing.
Bad Shepherds
Saw Adrian Edmondson & The Bad Shepherds on Saturday at our local theatre. Despite other comments from the Massive, they put on a great fun show with their folk / celtic interpretations of 'New Wave' classics. Standouts for me in included the Jam's 'Tube Station' and Talking Heads 'Once in a lifetime'.
The also added a great version of 'Ever fallen in love with someone' and other songs not on their album.
If you want an entertaining evening with some good light-hearted banter between songs, catch them on their current tour before the end of the month. www.thebadshepherds.com
Music to watch Fireworks by
At this time of year I get roped in to provide some musical accompaniment to our local Scout's firework display. Using a fairly basic portable CD / i-pod combination plugged into an old pa system, I try an put together a suitable playlist for the assembled 10-16 year olds and their parents and friends.
However I'm getting bored of the usual stuff - The Launch by DJ Jean, 2001 Space Odyssey theme, Theme from Gladiator etc.
Has anyone got any suggestions for kid / family friendly music to accompany the display?
