Distinctive voices
Whose voice would you recognise instantly even if it was being played through a pair of old sardine tins for speakers and you had radishes stuffed into your ears?
Tom Waits, for sure. Ali Campbell springs to mind, for some reason. Pete Townshend's another.
Hm?
Farewell then, the bloke who demonstrated dances on Ready Steady Go!
I have to admit I don't remember much about Patrick Kerr or his dance demonstrations. Maybe some of you lot have better memories.
Well anyway, his funeral took place in Cambridge today.
Pugwash bloke dies
Very sorry to read of the death of John Ryan, creator of the Captain Pugwash cartoon, which apparently first appeared in the Eagle comic.
I only remember the TV version, which to my young mind was a delight. I can still imitate the Pugwash voice fairly convincingly.
Syd Barrett's photocopier
I see the Blessed Syd's photocopier ("hasn't been used for quite a long time, and might not work"), authenticated by PC World receipt and signed manual, is up for auction on a well-known site.
It's all in a good cause– see www.escapeartists.co.uk
But whatever next? Joe Strummer's Strimmer? Jim Morrison's toaster? Lennon's favourite Biro?
