Can't seem to find the November issue anywhere
Is anybody else having trouble tracking down the november issue in shops at the moment? I've checked WH Smiths in coventry and birmingham, Local newsagents in atherstone, coventry and birmingham and also sainsburies in coventry and tamworth. all of these shops have stocked it in the past but i'm having no luck and it'll be the first issue i've missed in about the last 6 years. I'm planning on subscribing fairly soon anyway, but obviously that won't help me with this particular issue. did i miss a memo somewhere about the magazine going subscription only along with the podcast?
Bands releasing multitracks online for remixing...
For the last few days i've been messing about remixing various bands who've released the multitrack wav files of their songs online. there's been a few bands to do this recently such as Nine inch Nails, Phoenix and Peter Gabriel. the question is do any of you know of any other bands who have done this. So far i've managed to find the following sites but i'm after any others i can get hold of.
Nine inch nails (plus a few songs from janes addiction, saul williams and a couple of others) - http://remix.nin.com/
Real World records (Peter gabriel, Imagined village, Afro Celt Soundsystem etc) - http://www.realworldremixed.com/
Phoenix - http://www.wearephoenix.com/completemultitrack/
hope some of you can have some fun with these, and also, if anyone knows or hears of any others then please let me know.
Help with choosing setlist for acoustic covers gig.
So, after mainly playing my own stuff for years i've recently decided to start playing some solo acoustic covers gigs to earn some extra money. I've going to be playing pubs in small towns and villages where the general clientele are not quite as musically obsessed as myself so i need to aim for the mainstream with my setlist. i've had to drop a lot of the covers i was planning to do as Jeff Buckley, Grateful Dead and Nick Cave are all a bit off the radar for the audience. I've currently got a list of about 25-30 songs (which i'll list in the comments) but i could do with 10 - 15 more songs so i'm asking for suggestions of what to play from the massive. unfortunately "1952 Vincent Black Lightning" isn't a good idea as very few people in the pub will know who RT is (plus it's slightly too difficult for me to play!) I'm aiming for a wide range of covers from the last 50 or so years so recent suggestions will be as useful as playing some old.
My band needs your help!
Apologies if this is seen as spamming, but as a member of the word massive i'd like to get some input from likeminded people on this project.
I'm the singer and guitarist in a band called "driven like the snow...". we play music that could probably be described as acoustic/indie/folk/pop/rock. When we play live we tend to have projections relating to each song and we're currently sorting out the visuals for a song we have about records called "Classic 45".
The idea is that we want people to go find their favourite 7inch single, take a photograph of themselves with it and email the results to us. we will then put all the photos together to make a video.
If you'd like to help us then please send your photos in JPEG format to classic45@hotmail.co.uk
If you'd like to hear the song then i'll post a youtube video (along with examples of the type of photo we're after as a reply to this message so it doesn't clog up the board and annoy fraser any more than necessary!
