'Heroes' David Bowie the musical

David Bowie has given the go ahead to a musical featuring twenty of his songs -
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/music-news/8918602/David-Bowie-...

I don't know how I feel. I don't think they usually manage to make the mark. Could this be different? I live in hope.

Guilfest 2011

Hi all, I'm off with the the lovely FPO for a weekend at Guilfest. It seems to clash with Lattitude quite often these days. Anyhow I hope you all have a good time at Latitude. I'll be enjoying the benefits of a very good friend who invites us to backstage camping etc at Guilfest. It struck me yesterday that when I was fourteen I went to see the Who at Charlton 36 yrs ago! On friday night Roger Dawltrey will be running through many of the the same numbers. Yes 36 yrs! I was 50 this year and the fact that I'm going back to see Mr Dawltrey after all this time does make me feel well - older......
I'm sure it's happening to us all but I hope there are some wee whipper snappers that blow my socks off over the weekend too!
Anyway - Have fun whatever you are up to come rain or shine.

Steve Martin

Steve Martin is in London playing the Hammersmith Odeon. He is a very good banjo player. It struck me tonight that he has provided some top notch quality entertainment from when I first bought his live album with King tut around 1979. The Jerk,All of me,Dead men don't wear plaid,Trains, planes & automobiles,Roxanne there have been so many. I have probably only touched some of his many moments but it dawned on me tonight how good his career has been. So here's one lttle piece of one of the many films I enjoyed -

Still in love with you

Robert Elms had a 'face off' called 'Cover to cover' on his BBC Londonlive show this week. It was Sade vs Thin Lizzy. He made it a little odd by playing Lizzy s studio version against Sade's new cover which is (I think) based on the great live version from 'Live & dangerous'. I immediately thought the Lizzy version was the best. I thought I'd have another listen tonight. There was a comment on you tube that said "Thin Lizzy's will always top my list...but this can nestle very comfortably next to it!!!" I think I agree - What do the massive think of it?

Sade

Thin Lizzy

I've got to say that Lizzy is still streets ahead but it was an interesting cover.

Fantasy job

I was thinking about what else I could have done as my day job. By coincidence I noticed Hannah's thread and thought what would we like to do?
As you get older sometimes you realize that you have fallen into a job but in hindsight maybe you would have chosen something else.
So here are two choices if all jobs paid the same and you could choose no matter what your qualifications are -
1. Your preferred career......
2. One you'd like to try

Me -

1. Run a campsite with a great music bar.
2. Architect

You?

Goa Tips & reads

To celebrate our 50th birthdays the FPO & myself are off to Goa next week. I'm after any tips on Candolim,Goa.
I'm also after a few books to read. I read 'Any Human Heart' and 'One Day' after recommendations from the massive which I loved. Ive looked at 'reads' on the site but I thought you may add a few further suggestions. I'm not after a review of any books just add a title/author and I'll look them up and hopefully find another few gems like last year.
Over to you The Massive -
