festival ? what festival ?
today i was late into the office.
why ?
mainly due to the sheer volume of traffic that was clogging up the southbound m5.
in between the usual glut of lorries, time stretched workers, and the odd lost soul, were scores of loaded up cars with a tried and tested tent, a crate of budget larger, a few rolls of toilet paper, and creaking suspension system.
the drivers in these loaded up vehicles often looked terrified as if they were behind the wheel for the first time since they happened to pass their driving test 5 weeks ago, and looked to be praying to the god of crusty mud that their borrowed shopper hopper didn’t end up being pranged by some pilled up four by four driver en route to the avalon based bliss.
i guess the gates to the 2009 glastonbury festival are opening today ?
me - jealous ?
well, despite the biblical events of my one jaunt to the green fields, of course i’m bloody jealous.
all i can say, is you’re in for a long day if the jams are already starting north of bristol, but hey the sun is shining so sit back and enjoy the adventure.
now, back to the build up and excitement that is next weeks that petrol emotion buzz.
that petrol emotion : 2009 tour
good morning.
i seem to recall there being a few people who were throwing love in the direction of that petrol emotion over in one of the other threads.
following their festival appearance last year the lads realised that dusting down some of their classics was a lot of fun and so have decided to put together a proper tour :
01/07/2009 birmingham - academy 2
02/07/2009 portsmouth - wedgewood rooms
03/07/2009 london - bloomsbury ballroom
05/07/2009 kent - hop farm festival
06/07/2009 nottingham - rescue rooms
07/07/2009 manchester - academy 3
09/07/2009 leeds - cockpit
10/07/2009 newcastle - academy 2
11/07/2009 kinross, scotland - t in the park
12/07/2009 dublin - oxegen festival
if i get things sorted out in time, i will be going along to the london show.
can't bloody wait.
hell.o.
so i signed up and added a track to todays spotify playlist.
amongst the usual gubbins, please search out and listen to the lou rawls track, dead end street.
produced by david axelrod, and ended up winning them some rather grand prize in 67 (wiki it for more detail .. )
even after having heard the song literally hundreds of times, the song never fails to provide that chill up the spine moment.
the tension and the release when the orchestration kicks in.
absolute perfection.
right, i'm off to have a dig around.
onwards
