DDBMT & LZ !!!!!
The Greatest Hits Album of the mighty Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich dropped on the desk this morning.
Cue general dad dancing and bursts of office-wide singing along to all their great pop hits. Everything from Hold Tight to The Legend of Xanadu. Wonderful stuff.
Recognition is faltering once we get past track 15, but we struggle on to things like track 19, Everly Brothers Medley.
Come track 22, and we are all knackered, so there is some relief at a pleasant acoustic refrain. Then the horror dawns. That's not any acoustic refrain, that's the most famous one in the world.
My giddy aunt, they covered Stairway To Heaven, and then to makes matters worse it seques into Pinball Wizard, ending with an acapella 'And she's climbing......'.
You couldn't make it up.
Pop Britannia
Caught the second part of this last night, and found it very enjoyable. Nice to see a few different talking heads on this type of programme, plus some footage I hadn't seen before. Only major gripe would be the choice of Ann-Marie Duff as narrator. Just wrong in every way.
I've deleted a comment I made here about Pete Townshend.
Apologies if it came out badly.
David is correct - there wasn't a charge or a trial.
Nor was there the publication of the book that he was researching.

Can one of you chirpy cockneys help a country bumpkin ?
I've got tickets for Bruce at the O2 Arena on Wednesday.
Due to the venue's location and the lack of trains out of London after 11pm, my only transport option is to drive. I'm sure getting out of the official car park will be an arduous task, so can anyone suggest anything i.e. Park at 'x' and walk etc etc
For the fans ???
I notice that the Killers' new album is dedicated to 'our fans'.
The album is a mixture of B sides, live tracks done for TV shows and a dance remix of Mr Brightside. The kind of thing that comes out as a bonus disc on a greatest hits collection, or as a last attempt to get cash from the public in the twilight of an artist's career.
Hang on here, aren't The Killers one of the bands de jour ?
If it is truly for 'the fans' then selling it for £4.99, or even giving it away as a covermount would have seemed more fit.
Bogs Plumbers would like to thank......
Just had an e-mail from Harvey Goldbrick's company asking me if I'd like to spend £7,500 on a full page ad in the Zeppelin concert programme, in return for which I'll get 2 tickets to the gig. This would seem a great opportunity for corporate misappropriation of funds.
Cue All Staff emails - 'This Year's Christmas Party is cancelled', and 'We've had to sell the photocopier'.
