Lyrical variations
There seems to be a spate of lyrical threads at the moment, and this just popped into my head the other day, after reading Revolution In The Head.
I was singing (to myself, luckily for the world) A Hard Day's Night and came up with this variation:
It's been a hard day's night
And I've been dogging after work
This then reminded me of a similar variation that came to me a while back, one I might have shared here before (my memory is now hilariously poor), inspired by, and to the tune of, George Michael's I Want Your Sex (retitled I Wash Your Socks):
Socks are natural
Socks are good
Not everybody wears them
But everybody should
And then, my favourite bit:
Socks are best when there's one and one
Does anybody else waste their time this way?
Classic NME letters
Mention of Benny on another thread brought to mind a splendid letter in the NME around the time of Searching For The Young Soul Rebels that parodied its sleeve notes by applying the self-mytholgising theme of putting together a crack team to assembling the cast of Crossroads, if I recall correctly.
Does anybody else remember this, does anybody have it and did anybody on here actually write it? If so, I owe you a pint.
On a related matter, does anybody have any favourite NME letters to reference or quote?
Modesty forbids me sharing mine.
Going for the two
With respect to the Pumpin Jack Flush thread, in which we are discussing number ones, I thought it would be a good idea to start a second thread devoted to number twos.
We have already had Lou Rawls and, I blush to admit, Nappy Brown from me. Any more for any more?
