Music for my funny valentine

As it is Valentine's Day tomorrow, this seems an opportune time to ask the Massive for their recommendations and thoughts on "romantic music". Given that the vast majority of recorded music must be about "love" in its myriad forms, I am always in a quandary when my girlfriend asks me to put some romantic music on. (Not that often, thinking about it!)

Whatever insights into the ways of love Richard Thompson, Randy Newman, John Grant, Loudon Wainwright III and Leonard Cohen might have to offer (to choose a few from my ipod), I don't think they offer the right choices as the candle flickers over the last of the tiramisu. And while I cede to no man in admiration for Marvin Gaye and "Let's Get It On" as a piece of music, it's a bit obvious for my tastes.

Ive managed to come up with a few to start with that I think get the balance right individually, but too many like these would have us fast asleep by 8.30!

Something in the way she moves - James Taylor
Coudn't love you more - John Martyn
Our love is easy - Melody Gardot
Always and forever - Pat Metheny

So, trying to avoid the cliched, maudlin, saccharine and plain miserable, what are your suggestions for that romantic evening - real or imaginary?
