Nurse Jackie Help Me
I'm catching up with this series on Iplayer and enjoying it but I really need to find the song that plays over the credits of Episode 2. It sounds a bit like Macy Gray but I've tried likely songs on itunes with no luck and Shazam didn't work. Does anyone else know what it was? Thanks
Are You Ready Steve? Uh Huh.
One thing which has me grinning like a charlie when I hear it is the band introduction at the start of a song. The first I was aware of was of course Ballroom Blitz by The Sweet which is where the title of this post originates. I then discovered to my delight that Matt Johnson does it with heavy irony on Armageddon Days - "Are you ready Jesus, Buddha" etc.
It Comes in at around 25 seconds.
Finally the start of Bootylicious By Destiny's Child .
Does anyone have any more examples?
By way am I the only 48 year old male who loves to sing "I don't think you're ready fo' this jelly"
Yes?
Oh dear.
Letterman - How do you follow that
This is how scottish comedian Craig Ferguson who hosts The Late Late Show which airs after Letterman dealt, rather nimbly, with his employers indiscretions.
Trevor Horn Rock Band
Following the recent success of The Beatles Rock Band game. I realised we are edging closer to the ultimate. The Rock Band game where you get the 48 track master tapes and a controller to remix/ isolate/fart about with them to your heart's content. Whose master tapes would you like to get a hold of? I'll bagsie Funkadelic and Steely Dan because I think there is a lot going on in there which would be a pleasure to unpick.
Rough and ready but fantastic
Can I recommend "Live from Daryl's House" which is Daryl Hall inviting people to jam with him. High calibre guests include Smokey and Nick Lowe. My favourite however is Todd Rundgren who performs a version of "You Got It" from the Average White Band's "White Album". It's not a polished performance but I personally can have too much polish. (There is also a podcast with clips available on itunes.)

Hail Rob Fitzpatrick!
Can I just take a minute to salute Rob Fitzpatrick on his recent work. I had come across Rob's writing occasionally before WORD but never especially singled him out. However following his triumphant "Rush Pig" article (Which brought back fond memories of my own denim waistcoat with " Rush" stitched in wool on one lapel) I have lapped up his work. In particular the Madness piece last month and this month's article on the monoculture as discussed in the podcast have both been excellent. Good Work Sir!
Stevie Wonder - Genius
The fantastic clavinet part of Superstition broken down into individual tracks. How on earth did he come up with that?
You may have already seen this but just in case...
Hello everyone apologies if this is old news for you but this rang a few bells for me.
The Most Random Top 5 Ever Ever Ever
I was inspired by a post elsewhere on the site (sorry too late at night to reference) to google Mike Read (the DJ not the late Cockney chancer) which led eventually to this - The current top five for the "Big L" -
The Big L Fab 40
LW TW TITLE ARTIST
1 1 Liverpool 8 Ringo Starr
3 2 Anyone Who Had A Heart Atomic Kitten
4 3 That's How People Grow Up Morrissey
5 4 Dig Lazarus Dig! Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
2 5 Don't Throw Your Love Away Elvis Costello ft. Amsterdam
I'm saying that is the most random top 5 ever.
The gauntlet Sir, lies at you feet...
