Troy Davis

I know we have had some heated debates re hanging however may I point to the fact that the execution date for Troy Davis has been set for September 21 . All I ask is that members of the massive read some of the facts for themselves and act upon them as they feel appropriate .

What the massive do best

It is a very simple two part question .

The gig is a comedy one for a humanist org .Firstly I need suggestions for the play list between doors open and curtain up . Secondly a suggestion as to entry music for the compere ( i was thinking the section of Roisin Dubh that morphs into the Londonderry air ). Thanks

today a busker saved my life

Today I did what I do if the busker is playing the violin . I offer a quid if they will give me a blast of "The king of the faeries " Unless they make a complete balls up this always puts me in a great humour . So question (assuming access to the usual aray of instruements ) what tune would you part with a quid for, knowing it will lighten your day ?

A Big Society Question

I will declare an interest . I have worked with children , young and older adults with special needs . From resettling into the community as long stay hospitals closed to working within respite and self development areas .

Moral Maze on Radio 4 tonight at 8pm may well be worth a listen . Having worked both within large national charities as well as social services I have my own feelings, however hope that the Massive may be tempted to listen tonight and share their views .

For those who feel these changes will not effect them , I would point out services they may well feel are "safe" are far from .

Behind Enemy Lines

Despite having lived in Newcastle since 1986 ( and indeed having no wish to live anywhere else ), my allegience to my childhood team remains . A work colleague , and friend , still relates that day 25 years ago when he opened the door to me and " saw this bloke with an Arsenal scarf on , didn't know to shut the door in his face or marvel he got here without anyone punching him " .

I ,alas, was not at the match on sat .I did get a phone call from one gooner mate at half time .

On the day that Newcastle won at the Emirates I had a gig that evening at the Toons training ground . Oh the stick I took .

Last night the gig was in the Irish Centre ,its across the road from the ground and bedecked with Toon legends . " Well lad " said Simon Donald of Viz fame " better keep your mooth shut "

Anyone else live behind enemy lines where all year you are ignored until certain fixtures ?

A request for help

Dear members of the massive I have a request . I need to retrieve texts I am assured that there may well be a gizmo which can do this ( I have been told the police use such a program ) if so does anyone have a clue as to where I may locate such a program ?

Thank you

one work one artist 20 minutes

On Sunday evening I cut out on the Jazz jamming session as I was "all out of sorts " heading for the Metro I plugged my ipod in to listen to the only audiobook which is so outside my usual remit ,the new Lee Child novel 61 hours . There I stood listening to the story of this modern Knight errant , I was amazed to find myself sitting across from Jeff Harding, the actor voicing the audiobook . We then had a great chat for about 20 mins re audiobooks , methods employed by which actors voice genders not their own ect . I was lifted out of my funk .

So my question is one album , one artist ( band member ? producer ect involved with it living or dead ) and twenty minutes who could lift you out of a funk ?

Another cry for help from Spotify country

Dear Massive if I lay out the facts as I understand them I am hoping someone can tell me :-

A ) What I am doing wrong

B ) How to fix this ( in clear baby steps )

1 I have used a mac for donkeys so do not know my way around PC .

2 The PC I am trying to put the spotify on runs Windows 7

3 I have had a Spotify account from almost its launch and the free version does all I require

4 I probably do not know what I am doing !

5 The install went as well as it can .

6 The problem is I can raise a sign in box that will allow me to type in my password but will not allow me entry to type in the account name .

Any advice ?

Thanks .

Didnt I once do that ?

Please forgive me if this has appeared before as a thread . Listening to the warm tones of Mark Ellen speak about cleaning silos and the Hep speak of bins reminded me that being of a certain demographic the Massive probably have done a few different things in their lives . A couple of years ago I was working / supporting a group in an arts / crafts situation . Some of the lads were doing stained glass window work . Joining in the tutor was showing me how to cut glass . On the second day I suddenly thought "hold on I worked in a glazing company for 6 months in my late teens " I had completely forgotten this fact . My question is do any of the massive have a brief "career" path that is so covered in brambles they had til now forgot they used to do that job ?

A shout out for massive help

My mate has bought herself an ipod touch and seems to think she can download stuff from the bbc iplayer to play on the ipod the same way as podcats ect . Is this correct ? I do not have a telly and don't use the iplayer but her notion seems odd to me . I said ( ok boasted ) last night that I knew just the people to ask.

If I am wrong and she is right how is it done ?

Thanks Dan

Mayor of London speaks

We are all to aware that it can be considered far too easy a point to bash bankers at the present moment , however when emotive headlines such as "Mayor Boris: 'Bankers Are Fleeing London' ' come across your screen is it unusual to just want to scream .

As a 49 year old the images of fleeing that have punctuated my life are for example a naked female child trying to run the napalm off her body , Hutus avoiding massacre , people running down Belfast streets or from a toppling twin towers . Then this week Haiti ( nuff said )

May I suggest that "Fleeing" be left as a term for real human tragedy !
