Stone me! Coming up smelling of Roses!!

Saw this on line a few minutes ago:

"The Stone Roses bassist Mani has confessed that he didn't realise his tour advance payment would be so big.

The star revealed that he went to a cashpoint to withdraw money for food shopping only to discover that £2 million had been deposited into his account, reports The Sun.

Mani told his friends back home in Stockport: "It's madness. I only went out to buy milk and things. I went to the cashpoint and someone has stuck nearly £2 million in while I wasn't looking.

"The whole world's gone crazy. I could have fallen over backwards when I saw the balance."

The band were aware that they would receive an advance from the high sales of their reunion tour and festival dates, but did know it would be as much as they had been given".

Dappy + Brian May : Rockstar

I just watched the video for this - not normally my cup of tea but Brian seems to rate him (Dappy) so thought I'd give it a go and..........it is okay (is that what the kids say these days?!?!) Number one in the hit parade in a week or two also methinks.

Any one else seen or heard it?

Frozen Planet - Wonderful World - Wow!

Did you see Frozen Planet? What a series!

Did you see the last 2 minutes or so?

Sir David was 'talking' (as opposed to singing) Wonderful World whilst the music track played behind him.At the same time on screen there was an amazing compilation of various animals, insects, sea life etc to help illustrate everything.

Now if only that song and the video could be made available as a download before Christmas it could be this year's number 1 - maybe with all profits going to the WWF Can any of the Massive suggest how to get the ball rolling?

There's a Plaice!

I expect a few would have been put off and assumed the new Rick Stein programme on BBC tv is another 'cooking fish' series but no! It is actually about the Blues. Just watching it on the iPlayer...........okay he does cook some fish but it is mostly about music!
Anyone else watched it?

Getting Ready For Chritmas Day!

It used to be that round about now the Geatest Hits or Best of Albums came out but this year it seems to be different. What we have now are the 'repackaged with bonus tracks' albums. I bet everyone who bought the original albums earlier in the year must be really pleased!
So far I have seen repackaged albums by Hugh Laurie, Cara Emerald, Maroon 5, Jessie J and Ed Sheeran!
Stop it record companies! Its not big and its not clever!

Glen Campbell in Plymouth

Just got back - what can I say? It was both joyous and sad.
Joyous to see and hear a true music legend performing some timeless songs.
Sad to see him fumble here and there as that horrible disease chips away at him.
He still has a great voice and is a masterful guitar player though. Funny too at times.
The audience loved him. He only badly went wrong on one song - in My Arms from the new album but he is totally forgiven for that!
6 weeks ago I was uncertain if we should go see him but, having done so, I am very grateful that we did go. It's a memory I'll cherish.

Heaven - serious concerns

Okay like most people I would like to think there will be something 'after-life' but with that in mind I had the following strange thought last night:

It will be great to meet up with my dad and grandparents again and presumably all the other people too from my life on Earth but, and this is my concern, will I be able to listen to music anywhere? If so will my entire collection be accessible? If not how about my favourite hundred or so songs?!?!?

Has anyone else given this any thought?

Bongo is at it again,,,,,

I just watched online a little BBC news clip about the premiere of the new film about the 'Quiet One'
Macca was gracious as ever but Bongo couldn't seem to hide his resentment about the history of the HJHs - why does he feel it necessary to do that?
Also really funny bit at the end - BBC bloke asks Noel Gallagher something along the lines of "did the Beatles and George influence you much?" there is a look a much amusement on Noel's face and he says "no they were only about 99.5% influence on me!" Top Man Noel you handled it well.
(the clip is currently on BBC News under Entertainment)

Boy! Life's a Beach!

I thought one or two of you may be interested............a few days ago I came across an album from last year by Beach Boy Al Jardine and quite good it is too!
It is called A Postcard From California and is probably the closest thing to a 'proper' BB's album since 'Holland' in the 70's.
It features all the former 'Boys' except Dennis plus, amongst others Glen Campbell, Neil Young, David Crosby. I didn't know this album existed - certainly worth checking out if you are a fan of the Beach Boys!

ATM Should I Stay or Should I Go?

Your thoughts please: I have liked Glen Campbell since the 60's - not everything but certainly the 'big hits' and amongst them Wichita Lineman and Galveston are amongst my top twenty songs of all time.
I loved the last album 'Meet G C' and the new final one - Ghost on the Canvas' seems to be, on two hearings, magnificent.
My dilemma is should I go and see a 75 year old (in my mind) 'legend' who is plainly very I'll or should I pass and, perhaps, regret never seeing him?

John, Paul, George & Bongo - again! yeah, yeah, yeah!

Is there no end to it?!?!
I Tunes are plugging the Beatles 1's album for pre-order! Is there anyone out there sitting thinking 'hmm....I see this is out soon - I have waited months for this so, it's only £8.99 too - What a bargain - I must pre-order it'?

Dan Peek R.I.P.

It is proving to be a bad few months for departures.........I am sorry to hear that Dan Peek one of the founding members of America has died.
He contributed a great deal to the first 5 America albums and their sound.

Un sung heroes? Possibly

Just caught a few minutes of the Manic Street Preachers tonight on BBC HD before Coldplay came on (T in Park) and noticed that they had a couple of uncredited guitarist and keyboard players who seemed to help on backing vocals from time to time.
I know this is obviously meant to help with the live sound but has anyone else noticed this with any other groups? I seem to recall watching Fleetwood Mac a few years ago on t.v. and they seemed to have several un-named backing musicians..........had Lennon and Harrison still been with us and the HJHM's got back together perhaps they would have had a few extra people with them.........
