Celtic Connections
I've always had a soft spot for BBC Scotland's Celtic Connections shows as they usually throw together a number of interesting artists. This year's line-up wasn't the best (mainly thanks to Ricky Ross's inclusion, but I guess he was the host) but this particular clip of Pete Molinari is particularly fine:

CW Stoneking
I see he's doing a guest mix for Tom Ravenscroft on 6 Music tonight. I have a feeling that there'll be a distinct lack of banging techno.
Anyone off to see him on his forthcoming UK tour?

The Jim Jones Revue - free Aural Decimeter iPhone App
It seems that an app is now available that measures how loud other bands are in comparison to The Jim Jones Revue.
Handy demo here:
CW Stoneking on Later
CW Stoneking, The Jim Jones Revue and Janelle Monae all on Later! Very Word friendly.
Korla Pandit
All this talk of CW Stoneking got me to thinking about how our rock 'n' roll brothers and sisters re-invent themselves or develop a persona for the purpose of fame and fortune - Dylan, Strummer (to an extent) and Tom Waits all spring to mind. However, Korla Pandit has to be the king as far as all this is concerned. I received an advance copy of an album of Exotica from the ever reliable El records the other day and was drawn to this guy like a snake to a charm.
What I've discovered so far is fascinating (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korla_Pandit)
Here he is action:
CW Stoneking
On the strength of David's review of CW Stoneking's album and this video I'm off to see him at Brixton's Windmill tomorrow night. Babysitter booked at a great expense, GLW promised a night of fun and the kids a night of "do what you like - we won't be there". Has anyone else here seen him live? Any idea of what to expect?
It's that time of year again
I'll be raising a glass.
I've just bought a piano
I can't actually play the thing but it seemed a good idea at the time.
The GLW is going to kill me so this may well be my last post.
Any other compulsive purchases you care to share?
For Nicodemus and Steve Turner
I think you guys put me on to him last year. New album out next week. Anyone heard it?
Hello
I've been "away" for the last year or so. What have I missed?
