I haven't read Noel's interview in the latest edition yet, so don't know whether he mentions his and liam's ill-fated property portfolio....

Hey you got onto my Cloud.....

Has any gone to the "cloud " yet? We were shown an Apple corporate video the other day expounding the idea of a laptop/harddrive free home, where your data is stored elsewhere and you interact with it via your phone and tablet etc. Must admit I'm still unsure about it although getting a new HTC phone is changing my views.

I can see a tablet being perfect for homebrowsing, light shopping, reading etc and since getting my phone I rarely turn on my laptop ( this isn't just to play angry birds all the time either). I tapped out this post on my phone free from my overheating heavy laptop.

I suppose my main concern is about handing over things like my personal photos to someone else to look after and that unlike senior tech types I don't live in a seamless bubble of unlimited of lowcost WiFi. I've used Flickr for years and listen to music via Spotify but Yahoo have been wobbling a bit lately so bang goes my pics and emails. And who knows what voodoo finance keeps Roberta* and pals in flat whites and knowing tshirts .
So has anyone dumped their harddrive yet?

*remember her?

This is a Low

In the bizarre ying and yang of post Blur projects Damon seems to be heading all high brow with his operas and worthy collaborations... meanwhile David Cameron's pal Alex seems to be turning into the Bernard Mathews of the cheese world with his new deal with Wal-Mart aka Asda.

"cheddar and tomato ketchup, cheddar and tikka masala, cheddar and spring onion, cheddar and sweet chilli"

""innovative” products such as cheddar spudsworth melting cubes"

So less Blue Monday more Atrocity Exhibition .....

Everything I know I learnt from POP....

Went to the YSP again the other day and had another look round the Jaume Plensa exhibition. One of the best  pieces is the gong room. It's a darkly lit room with a circle of huge gongs hung from the ceiling. They let you into the gallery in 5's and you get to hit the gongs not in full Bombardier Billy Wells mode but in a wonderfully echoing throbbing rumble. Incised into the gongs are passages from what i worked out must be "the Song of Solomon" but it was only when I got TO this one did I have a head slapping moment . I never heard the song of Solomon in Sunday school but I HAD heard it on top of the pops!!

So Pop not IS just for getting you through the journey to work, or ready to go out on the lash, or eveb through the long dark nights of the soul but it's the world's best University too!

Did you know Rasputin was "a cat that really was gone...."

Gone with the Wind : Film stars letting twang

Saw this on the Guardian website and was immediately struck with the whiff of an idea?

Is everyones favourite fictional touchy feely bible quoting liberal wet dream of a President the only movie star to have cleared a sound stage with his trouser eruptions?

Can you help us find some more?

Outing the Massive:Born in the USA?

The recent increasingly bizarre revelations about bloggers haven't been too shocking for me on the whole, I always knew the Massive were middle aged and bearded, I was shocked to find however you were all AMERICAN!!

All those mentions of Frey Bentos pies and buying the sporting pink for your dad on Saturday evening were all LIES.

Not one of you has watched Tiswas, been to see the Incredible string band at the Leicester Toreador or done that Harry Worth window thing in Dewhurst's window while waiting for your Mum to get a pound of scrag end!!  It's all been lies, you ALL grew up in Des Moines and know what a sophomore is and actually like pop tarts and Hershey bars.

So you can come "out" now and own up to being a "Hoosier" or a "Texan". And as for pretending to be a lesbian I think we can leave that to Lady GaGa from now on.

"My ex Brother-in-Law's shit record collection"

This has been doing the rounds, someone amusingly using E-Bay to get some "afters" in with their sister's ex husband. Not one for Jazz funk fans possibly.

Sport Britannia

No beer in sight of the pitch

Just watched the elegy film for Henry Cooper on BBC 2 and interesting and moving film it was.

This and watching Football Focus and the F1 coverage today got me thinking about how badly sport is served on tv. Now I know there'll be those who roll their eyes and say there's too much sport on TV already but I'd hope if you're not interested the title of this post would made you walk on by. Anyway isn't it time there was decent coverage of sport on Tv especially it's history and culture.

For instance I'm not a boxing nut but the circumstances of the Ali- Cooper fight were fascinating (the sneaky delay Ali's corner engineered that gave Ali time to recover from Henry's left hook)etc.

So how about a strand on BBC4 (on wednesday evening (?)the traditional day for Sportsnight) to match their excellent music coverage with decent discussion of sport, those that were there telling the good stories, perhaps showing the great sporting documentaries and films.

Something a bit more in-depth, dignified and vital than sending Michael Vaughan to blow smoke up Ryan Gigg's fundament or have Eddie Jordan wear a selection of loud shirts in various pit lanes.

Any ideas/suggestions?
