Heaven's House Band

When yet another famous musician shuffles off their mortal coil, amongst the appreciations there's usually a line about "there's anothere one for Heaven's House Band". Now, that House Band must be pretty bloody big by now and more to the point, there's a range of stylistic variations within the members that would lead to more break-ups than Deep Purple - citing the usual Musical Differences (natch). So obviously, there appears to be scope for more than one Heaven's House Band. Quite a few actually.

So who should be in each band? What combinations would have us mere mortals salivating at the prospect. Let's go further: there's a big 3 day summer festival coming up in the next world (Hadesbury? Cloud9fields?) - who's on the bill and who's in the bin?

To get the ball rolling, I've a few suggestions:

Band 1

Kurt Cobain (gtr/vcls)
John Entwistle (bass)
John Bonham (drums)

Band 2

Amy Winehouse (vcls)
Hubert Sumlin(Gtr)
Steve Marriott (gtr/bkg vcls)
James Jamerson (bass)
Richie Hayward (drums)
Nat King Cole (piano/vcls)

Band 3

Jimi Hendrix (gtr)
Jaco Pastorious (bass)
Gene Krupa (drums)
Ella Fitzgerald (vcls)
Oscar Peterson (piano)

Band 4

Miles Davis (trumpet/scowling)
Kenny Kirkland (piano)
Mitch Mitchell (drums)
Charlie Parker (saxes)
Louis Armstrong (trumpet/vcls)

Just even thinking of who I'd put in the house blues band gives me a massive headache. I think there would have to be several - and they'd all be pretty damn fine. Over to you, the massive, to run with it...
