My new fave new band-Hot Fudge

Recently met this band in York and though they where pretty good, as they where busking outside the races. Anyone who brings a horn section busking is doing something right in my opinion.

Heard someof there older stuff at Myspace.com/hotfudgetheband
but last week they did a set for BBC Radio York Indroducing, hear it here http://bit.ly/cHeiqv and I have to say thought it was excellent. Something new from a band who I'd like to think could have great things ahead of them.

Show your support,if you feel it.

[and don'y you think he looks like Anthony Hopkins in a Santa's beard]

Moyles or less

I've just read Giles Smith piece in Junes edition, and I think I should put my head above the parapit, and say, i'm a Word reader and a Fan of Chris 'saviour of Radio1' Moyles. These thing do not have to be mutually exclusive.

Much of Moyles' dislike is second hand, based on hearsay and a percieved idea of what he's like. Is he Stephen Fry,or Ian Hislop, the whitty banter spcialists? NO, but then i'm not sure thats what i'm looking for a 6.30AM. Does he bang on and on about 'new music' for so long it's been replaced by the next new fad? No, he'll openly express his opinion, and then dear reader, he'll admit, 2 or 3 weeks down the road if he was wrong!

Does he give an air of musical superiority? No, but listen to his golden hour on a Friday,

Oh, and he's not affriad to drop song beloved of the play list team

anyway just a thought

Come Fly With Me

Over the weekend I was luck enough to fly to Edinburgh. This was my first flight for a few years, and the first since i've had a iPod, and I looked forward to having the huge majority of stuff in own to listen to on the flight.

However, I found that seemingly some music goes well in flight, and some just doesn't feel right. Much loved Seasick Steve, and the Black Diamond Heavies just don't go, in fact most Blues just seemed to be too rooted in the earth to feel right.

And this is not some kind of pun based thing where Tom Petty's Learing to Fly works [although it does] in fact twangy MOR seems to fair pretty well, as did Rap,Dizzy Rascal, Kanye West, Ice Cube solo, but not Ice-T or NWA, Ryan Adams-NO Beth Orton-Yes.
Chuck Berry -Yes, Carl Perkins-NO

I'm sure this is in no way scientific, but has anyone else experianced this.

Freefonics

Sorry to do this to you, bu i've recently become slighty obcessed with a Kids crtoon called 'Freefonics'. More inexplicably i have no idea why?

Basically one group The freefhonics, are guardians of the 13th note, something that provides power through music. Another group,Mantyz are attempting to gain this power for there own ends.

Now i'm not sure if it's the Pop group good/goth group bad dynamic, or the use of musical intramewnts as weapons, but this just doesn't sit well with me, but i'm still drawn to it.

see for yourself

Thanks to Frank.

Yesterday I recieved via Amazon Trance-fusion by Frank Zappa, the third in the guitar solos trilogy [as it currently stands].
Due to the bad weather and an accident on the M5, i was forced to take a somewhat circuatous route home. I started the CD in the car as i left work [it's not on my iPod yet], and the final notes faded away with much cheersing from the live audiance, as i pulled on the drive at home.

Having been a huge Zappa fan in the past i've only just started tyo listen to any stuff again.

How odd that on the day after this journey, i recall today is the annerversary of Zappa's death.

So, just to say 'MUSIC IS THE BEST'
AND THANKS TO FRANK.
