Help, help... what's the world's best music video?
Um, it kind of feels like cheating, but I really need to ask your help in nominating your favourite music video / sequence (i.e. music used brilliantly in a film).
basically, I've got my mates coming round for our monthly Music Club tomorrow night (basic idea; friends come round, we eat macaroni cheese* and play each other music based around a theme).
this month's theme is "Music and Visuals". and I do not have a clue what to play.
there are several reasons for my cluelessness:
1) I have a brand new baby (eighteen days old) and my memory has disintegrated into mush.
2) I've really only seen a handful of films in my time (just don't have the attention span unfortunately, I know I'm missing out).
3) I'd play Radiohead (am I the only poster on here who actually likes them?) but suspect that my mates will find their vids too pretentious.
Please take pity on me and post any recommendations of your favourite music 'n' visuals combo...
Right, must stop posting, there is a nappy that needs changing.
Cheers!

Well, it made me laugh anyway...
Can you recommend a "song by song" book??
I have a faintly evil commute, and only my MP3 player makes it bearable.
Last year, I really enjoyed reading each entry in "Revolution in the Head" by Ian MacDonald, whilst listening to the corresponding Beatles song (pre-playlisted into the correct order).
And I've just finished XTC's back catalogue, accompanied with their book "XTC: Song Stories".
So... next up is Squeeze's work, with "Squeeze: Song by Song" alongside.
but after that, what?
what's your favourite artist / book combo?
I'd particularly welcome good "song by song" book recommendations for Bowie / Elvis Costello / Crowded House, Neil Finn.... but to be honest I have a pretty wide ranging music taste and I'm always happy to try something new. Happy to splash some cash and invest in music I don't own...
look forward to hearing your thoughts!
