Top 100 Spotify tracks of 2009
Not what I was hoping for (No Horslips :-( ) It all looks depressingly familiar. So much for Joe Public expanding his/her musical tastes.
Sports Personality, BBC1, 7pm
When can we expect Mr Lineker to make his first smug and smarmy (and unfunny) comment about Tiger Woods? I'll go for 7.02.
Utterly Depressing
No, it isn't funny or wacky. Yes, I'm a grumpy old bastard, but this stuff has become extremely tiresome. The cynic in me says that the marriage was arranged in order to perform the side-splitting gag.
I hate everyone involved. Rant over.
"He looks like Keith Richards with a glass of warm milk".
I'm surprised that no one has yet mentioned the excellent new series on Five USA - Breaking Bad. It got off to a flyer on Tuesday night. It seems it was also missed by most of the newspapers (too busy reviewing Spooks (again) and X Factor, perhaps?), although the Guardian provide a brief synopsis here

Definitely worth setting the timer on the Sky box.
WMA files to iTunes
A friend has sent me a USB stick loaded with Joni and Dylan stuff (ahem... is that legal?) Unfortunately, most the tracks are in WMA format and iTunes doesn't want to know. Can anyone recommend a *free* utility for converting to mp3?
I've tried googling, but all hits are at least 3 years old.
Why should the blokes have all the fun?
It's in Flemish (I think), but the pictures are all you'll need....
(sorry if it's been posted already. It's new to me)
David Simon speaks
Very interesting article on how he came to write The Wire. Damn. I'll just have to watch it all, again.

Dyson products - Genius or Emperor's new clothes (again)
I'm sure it won't have escaped anyone's attention, that the Dyson chap has "invented" a new device - the bladeless fan. I can't help but think that it's yet another (expensive) solution from Mr D in search of a problem.
From the town that gave you...
The Broons, Oor Wullie, The Dandy, The Beano, The Sunday Post and My Weekly
I give you -- The Average White Band....
(note Hamish, giving it laldy in the kilt).
The Spotify *Less Is More* Behemoth
All the LIMs in one handy container (you know you wanted it (oh, and I was bored)).
Sorry, David.

IT/ Hard drive help required
Last year I replaced the hard drive in my Macbook with a larger, 500GB drive. The "new" drive now won't boot and I've replaced it with the original. My question is, is there a device (cable?) which will allow me to connect the non-booting drive to the Mac, via the USB, and recover all the files (music, pics)?
For all James Grant fans
He'll be playing live on Whispering Bob's show on the 26th September.
The Remasters - stereo or mono?
I intend buying one of the box-sets, but I can't decide which - stereo or mono? I'd appreciate any advice on pros/cons of either and, ultimately, which version I should go for. The only way I could possibly decide is by having access to both before purchase -- but that's unlikely to happen. I also don't have the funds for both, so that's a non-starter. Thanks in advance.
ps. I appreciate that there are a few people on here who are suffering Beatlemania fatigue. I would respectfully request that they ignore this post.
Scam Warning*
Thought that I should pass this along - it sounds legitimate.....
There is another terrible scam doing the rounds. You should send this to any women you know and care about. I don't normally forward warnings about scams, but this one looks genuine and important:
If a man comes to your door and says he is conducting a survey and asks you to show him your tits, DO NOT SHOW HIM YOUR TITS. This is a scam.
He is only trying to see your tits.
* sorry if this is an old one, but I only received it this week, and it had me laughing out loud.
