Mildly Interesting Facts part 93

I find this one fascinating for some odd reason. Remember the scene in 'Dr. No' when Ursula Andress first emerges from the water singing a calypso tune called 'Under The Mango Tree'? You'll never guess who provided Andress' singing voice... Diana Coupland. Yes, TV's very own Jean Abbott from 'Bless This House,' wife of Sid, mother of sexpot Sally & workshy Mike.

It's like finding out Colin Crompton played the solo on 'Layla.'

31 Years Ago Today

I don't know what else to say. We all know what happened and we all know where we were when it happened.

The Latitude Bonus CD

Is this available to all subscribers? Or is it one of those situations where it's limited to the UK due to copyrights, etc.?

I knew I should never have emigrated!!

How about a quiz?

Massive - can you find the link(s) between:

1. Boris Gardner and the Shipping Forecast?

2. MTV and Liquid Paper?

3. 70s AOR band Bread and Captain Beefheart?

4. 70s prog rock band Yes and Joe Meek?

5. 60s psych band Tomorrow and the Beatles?

6. Little Feat and the Walker Brothers?

7. Buddy Holly and Willie Nelson?

8. Deaf School and the Lightning Seeds?

9. Adam & The Ants and the Vibrators?

10. Roxy Music and 70s prog rockers ELP?

Good luck!

Pardon my ignorance...

... but I'm still relatively new here and I'm curious as to what 'FPO' stands for. I realize it's an acronym for the missus but I've racked my brain and I can't come up with the answer. Unless some of you married to Field Post Offices or use your wives/girlfriends For Position Only. But I think that's unlikely.

So, can someone please enlighten me? Ta.

Word 86 - April 2010

I'm curious (and slightly impatient) - has this been mailed out to the Colonies yet? I believe it's been available in the UK for a couple of weeks but it has yet to reach California.

I know you had some issues (geddit?) with DHL a couple of months ago that resulted in a very late magazine and I'm hoping the tardiness of #86 isn't a result of a shipper's incompetence. Again.

Please set my mind at ease.

The Second Best Scream in Rock & Roll?

I think it's safe to say that Roger Daltrey's blood curdling wail in "Won't Get Fooled Again" is the best scream in rock & roll.

I vote Alice Cooper's lung stretcher at the end of the first verse of "Elected" as second best.

Any other nominations?
